Features captivating, never-before-seen footage and performances spanning David Bowie’s 54-year career including The Jean Genie, Aladdin Sane, Space Oddity, Heroes, Let’s Dance, Modern Love, Young Americans, Changes, and many more. Bowie's third phase is covered by showing him appearing in his tailored Savile Row double breasted business suits and appearing in duets with multiple established artists such as Tina Turner and others. In an epic illustration of David Bowie's constant flow of ingenious art, 54 years of the beloved English icon's work is explored.

Criterion’s release boasts a small yet strong slate of extras, but it’s the impeccable A/V presentation that makes this a worthy addition to any Bowie fan’s home video collection. After moving to West Berlin, Bowie speaks in clips and interviews about the extensive impact which the aesthetics of German culture in West Berlin had upon his artistic sensibilities. The first hour of the film begins with a long film clip of Bowie performing a live version of a largely narrated version of " All the Young Dudes" before singing the choruses later made famous by Mott the Hoople's recording of the song. The Bowie that emerges through his own words, images, and performances in Morgen’s film is of an artist who knew exactly who he was and stayed true to his all-encompassing vision of life.

In his third phase covered in the last part of the film, Bowie emerges from a two year hiatus where he remakes himself in the image of a suave musical artist often dressed in tailored Saville Row double breasted men's business suits.

From Oscar-nominated filmmaker Brett Morgen, director of Cobain: Montage of Heck, and featuring never-before-seen concert footage, MOONAGE DAYDREAM is an immersive cinematic experience; an audio-visual space odyssey that not only illuminates the enigmatic legacy of David Bowie but also serves as a guide to living a fulfilling and meaningful life in the 21st Century.

As a Bowie fan from 1969, and having seen him in concert in 1973, I really enjoyed this film, went to see it at the cinema in September 2022. My wife has bought me this Bluray for Christmas, so I'm looking forward to seeing again with the volume cranked up on my 5. Watching Moonage Daydream, there are essential facts you won't hear, and many touchstones that get skipped over (in the entire movie, you'll never even see an album cover). Moonage Daydream’s clips are culled from source materials of varying qualities, but the Criterion Collection’s 4K transfer, by and large, looks fantastic throughout, pulling maximum detail out of even the darkest, most degraded concert footage.
