Description

See what perils await our beloved blue-haired adventurer in the sixth book of Luke Pearson’s widely praised series. Hilda and her mum have settled into their new home in the city of Trolberg and our heroine is trying to fit into this new and very different way of life.

It was designed in 1965 by Ingmar Relling (1920-2002), several of whose Siesta chairs are in the National Museum in. There is no shortage of unexpected twists, turns and new friends in this latest instalment of the Hilda fiction series. The idea to have Hilda live in a city named Trolberg was there from the start, but for the first story Luke Pearson scaled down the world of Hilda to just a few elements, namely Hilda herself, her mother, and their house in the wilderness. It’s a fantastic independent book seller that will actually be responsive and select appropriate books for you. This has survived as a South African classic not just because it's beautifully written,' wrote Anthony Sampson in the Spectator, 'but because it conveys the combination of ordinariness and danger which is implicit in any totalitarian state. We rejoin our heroine for her latest adventure just as she awakes to find herself… in the body of a troll! And whether you’ve been following the Netflix series or not, you can follow along with Hilda’s adventures in our illustrated fiction series!

Introduces Hilda, an adventurous young girl who lives in an idyllic mountainous wilderness with her mother and deerfox companion, Twig. This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).

For the first time in paperback, we rejoin our heroine for her latest adventure just as she awakes to find herself…in the body of a troll!

Furious with each other, the bickering pair find themselves lost in the land of the trolls, forced to embark on a dangerous journey to make their way home. Having the character move to the city meant readers could likely closer relate to Hilda than if she were still living in the wilderness. Another source of inspiration was the book Scandinavian Folk-Lore: Illustrations of the Traditional Beliefs of the Northern Peoples by William A Craigie. Meet Hilda: explorer, adventurer, avid sketchbook-keeper and friend to every creature in the valley!Hilda (also known as Hildafolk [1]) is a British children's graphic novel series written and illustrated by Luke Pearson and published by Nobrow Press.
